1. Introduction

Move To Help Foundation ("MTHF," "we," "us," or "our") is a US 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 83-4130153). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you visit donate.movetohelp.org (the "Site") or make a donation.

By using the Site or making a donation, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or make a donation.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

• Donation information: name, email address, billing address, donation amount, payment method, and the cause you select. Payment card details are processed and stored by our payment processor (PayPal) — we do not collect or store full card numbers.
• Communications: if you contact us via email or other methods, we receive the contents of those messages along with any information you choose to share.
• Account or sponsorship information: if you set up recurring donations or sponsor an orphan, we may collect additional information needed to fulfill that ongoing commitment.

Information collected automatically:

• Usage data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, time spent on pages, and clickstream data.
• Location data: approximate geographic location derived from IP address (typically city or region level).
• Device identifiers: unique identifiers stored in cookies or similar technologies.

Information from third parties:

• Payment processors: PayPal provides us with confirmation of donations, including donor name and email associated with the PayPal account used.
• Advertising partners: if you click on a Move To Help advertisement on Meta, Google, or another platform, we may receive information about your interaction with that ad.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• To process donations and provide tax-deductible receipts
• To deploy your donation to the cause you selected through verified field partners
• To communicate with you about your donations, including confirmation, deployment status, and annual giving statements
• To respond to your inquiries and provide customer service
• To send updates about our work, future emergencies, and impact (you may unsubscribe at any time)
• To analyze and improve the Site, our donation flow, and our communications
• To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, security incidents, and unauthorized transactions
• To comply with legal obligations, including IRS reporting requirements
• To enforce our Terms of Service and other policies

4. How We Share Information

We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

Service providers:

We share information with third-party service providers who help us operate the Site and process donations, including:

• PayPal Holdings, Inc. — payment processing
• Vercel Inc. — website hosting and content delivery
• Email and communication providers — for sending receipts, updates, and donor communications
• Analytics and advertising partners — see Section 5 (Cookies) and Section 6 (Third-Party Services)

These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the purposes for which we share it.

Legal compliance:

We may disclose information when required by law, court order, subpoena, or government request, including to comply with IRS reporting obligations, charitable solicitation laws, and law enforcement investigations.

Mergers and reorganization:

If MTHF merges with another organization, dissolves, or transfers operations to another nonprofit, donor information may be transferred to the successor organization, subject to this Privacy Policy or a successor policy of equal or greater protection.

With your consent:

We may share information for any other purpose disclosed to you when you provide the information, or with your subsequent consent.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to operate the Site, analyze usage, and enable advertising. By using the Site, you consent to our use of these technologies as described below.

Managing cookies:

Most browsers allow you to refuse or accept cookies through browser settings. You can also use opt-out tools provided by the Network Advertising Initiative (optout.networkadvertising.org) and the Digital Advertising Alliance (optout.aboutads.info). Note that disabling cookies may affect Site functionality, including the donation flow.

6. Third-Party Services

The Site uses the following third-party services that may collect information:

PayPal:

Donations are processed through PayPal. When you donate, PayPal collects your payment information directly. We never see or store your full payment card details. PayPal's privacy practices are governed by their privacy policy at paypal.com/us/legalhub/privacy-full.

Meta (Facebook/Instagram):

We use Meta Pixel to measure the effectiveness of our advertising on Facebook and Instagram. The pixel collects information about your interactions with our Site and reports back to Meta. Meta's privacy policy is available at facebook.com/privacy/policy.

Google Analytics and Google Ads:

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand Site usage and Google Ads to measure advertising effectiveness. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Vercel:

The Site is hosted on Vercel, which receives standard web server logs (IP address, user agent, request URLs) for hosting purposes. Vercel's privacy policy is available at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

7. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights with respect to your personal information:

• Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correction: request that we correct inaccurate information
• Deletion: request that we delete your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements (see Section 10)
• Opt-out of marketing communications: unsubscribe via the link in any email or by contacting us
• Data portability: receive your information in a structured, commonly used format
• Withdraw consent: withdraw consent for processing where we rely on consent as the legal basis

8. California Resident Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA") and California Privacy Rights Act ("CPRA"):

• Right to know: request information about the personal information we collect, use, disclose, and (if applicable) sell
• Right to delete: request deletion of personal information, subject to legal exceptions
• Right to correct: request correction of inaccurate personal information
• Right to opt-out of sale or sharing: we do not sell personal information; we share certain information for cross-context behavioral advertising as described in this Policy. To opt out of such sharing, email team@movetohelp.org with subject line "California Privacy — Opt Out of Sharing."
• Right to non-discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights
• Right to limit use of sensitive information: we do not collect sensitive personal information as defined under CPRA

9. European Residents (GDPR)

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") and equivalent UK/Swiss legislation may apply.

Legal basis for processing:

We process personal information based on the following legal grounds:

• Contract: to process your donation and provide receipts
• Legitimate interests: to operate and improve the Site, prevent fraud, and communicate about our work
• Consent: for marketing communications and certain cookie uses
• Legal obligation: to comply with tax, charity, and other applicable laws

International data transfers:

Move To Help is based in the United States. Personal information collected from European residents will be transferred to and processed in the United States. We rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable) for international transfers.

10. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and to comply with legal obligations. Specifically:

• Donation records: retained for at least seven (7) years to comply with IRS audit requirements for nonprofit organizations
• Communication records: retained for at least three (3) years
• Marketing email addresses: retained until you unsubscribe or for two (2) years of inactivity, whichever is sooner
• Web analytics data: retained according to Google Analytics 4 default retention (14 months)

After retention periods expire, we delete or anonymize personal information.

11. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and reliance on PCI-compliant payment processors for payment data.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

12. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us at team@movetohelp.org.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated through a notice on the Site or by email to active donors. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
